I have heard through the grapevine, there is another Ausie company that does mic Preamps,

I cant find any information on them or their products?

does anyone have any contact information?

Yes there once was a company called ETR Audio. A one man operation in Newcastle NSW. His name was Bruce Evans and to be frank he was a weird guy, sort of an "electronics nerd". BUT he made a great mic pre.
You will note, I'm using the past tense, as he died about eight years ago. He sold pre's to a few of us in Newcastle (I've got a pair), the ABC bought some and Bob Spencer has a pair as well, I think Bob has a prototype limiting amplifier. and he designed an interesting speaker system as well, but I have no idea what happened to that, but that's about it, no more.
It's a sad thing really, he only just started to do well, found out he had a few months to live, and that was the end of Bruce, his designs, and his weirdness. They were my first real mic pre's, and I'm glad I met Bruce and the gear is still used, even this afternoon.

From BeesNeez microphones has started manufacturing valve mic-pre called the para one.
I would love to try one or even here from anyone who has.

I think it was an email from bob a long time ago that told me about etr, and in the emails mentions he doed and was a little out there.....

I just forgot that he mentioned it was Bruce was mr ETR and that he died.

If you talk to Bob he can let you some great stuff about Bruce E, my favourite quote is "That Rupert Neve has a lot to answer for".
Never the less his pre was pretty advanced for it's time, especially when most of us were still using the channels in our desks and bussing into tape.

The rupert neve has alot to answer for is something that made me laugh, but even the man hmself says technically the old stuff is not right.

Bruce was your typical "eccentric", totally obsessed with audio. He once showed me his stereo system with "his speakers", etc., but I'm afraid he was on a different level and most of what he was explaining was over my head. I used to see him frequenting a couple of nightclubs when I was doing live sound, I believe he was looking for "company"

I know he "potted" certain components in (some of) his pres, whether anyone has ever found out what those components are is anyone's guess.
