Oh My Goodness....

I just came back from the Meshuggah concert at the Roundhouse UNSW...

jesus, that was the most incredible gig i've ever seen!!

I know they're not everyone's cup of tea...but... wow...they played for 90 minutes, and it was so good that when they didnt do an encore...no one complained!!!

not sure if you know the music....but...they play pretty impossible stuff, and it was so tight, and had auch a massive live sound...that it was a true experience !!


check out their stuff...and imagine it being played ...exactly like that, but with more urgency, and at 120dB!

the bar of excellence has been raised...yet again!!

Meshuggah is like a death metal version of ABBA.

Well, in the sense that they're Swedish. The clip for New Millenium Cyanide Christ is the best air band video around.

I can really get into death metal for about 10 minutes at a healthy 72db SPL. But that's about my limit, I get bored with it after that. Glad you enjoyed the gig, Jamil, just look after those ears at the same time.

Id be intersted to see meshuggah live... I've listened to their strangely timed music a fair bit... A lot of counting going on, its almost math metal...

The thing that puts me off them is just the lack of any melodic vocals, as mentioned above, I love a good scream, but to me it just seems to lose its impact when there it doesnt switch it up a bit...

Thats just my taste though... No right or wrong...

saw them in Melbourne, extremely tight performance!!!
wasnt sold on the sound, no backline.... took a good 4-5 songs before the sound became decent!!
they all played through line6/be!@#$%^& gear and one interesting thing which a friend of mine found out is that the lead guitarist controls the whole bands tones, so when he whips into a solo the rhythm & bass tones change... how the times have changed...or is that just lazy...
