Any Wurlitzer owners here?

I've just grabbed a 200a. I love it! Its a little rattle-y though, particularly when lower notes are played loud!

Is this common? I noticed it is missing the 3 screws that fasten the front of the hinged lid down (the 3 from the bottom). Any idea what dimension they are??

Its a little darker sounding that I anticipated, but it works terrifically with the bright side of my Crowley and Tripp naked eye (what a mic!!).

I have a really nice 200A, I don't really play it much so I am thinking of selling it. The underside screws are often missing, they are American so they would be some kind of imperial thread or UNF thread. Coventry fasteners would be your best bet but you would need to take in one of the nuts for them to match the thread.

I had my 200a recapped last year. You can now hear the piano over the noise, but there are some rattles happening. At some stage I am going to try to damp the top of the case by inserting some foam or mouse pads betweeen the shield and the plastic top and see if this helps.

I am pretty happy recording it direct into vtb preamp - the gain is really high from the output. Otherwise you can also try to run it thru an external amp.

If you care to post a sound clip I can give you my 2c as to the darkness or otherwise.

Anyone know who someone who can tweak the action on my wurli?

Also recently picked up an old elipian combo which is also an intersting little piano - kind of a hybrid between rodes and wurli sound.

I've got a wurly 206 and love it.

I recapped mine completely but it's still noisy. There's a little board on top of the hammer assembly that has alot to do with how noisy it is. I think it's the preamp that connects directly to the pickups. The grounding of this guy is important, you can remove it and make sure you clean around the screws that ground it.

I thought about insulating the inside cover but I don't know how much good it would do. I think the noise is just part of it - keep lamps and other field generators away.

lonearranger, I just bought an elepian as well! how cool is it!? mines a piano version that's desperate for a recap.

There's a poly cap that needs to be replaced in the generator board on top of the pickups, it usually fails, from memory it is the 22pF, but at any rate I would replace all the poly caps on the little reed bar amp board.

Mine, electronically speaking is really quiet. When I first fired her up she was crackly and a mess. I think the caps just needed to be reformed after a lack of use.

The biggest problem with mine is the right speaker. It rattles against the ABS plastic lid. I think I just need to get in there and tighten her up. Maybe use some blu-tak or something to fill up any space between the speaker and plastic lid.
