Anyone know of any studios for hire that are reasonable well equipped for electronic music production?? Synths and all that jazz.

Not really... I am trying to put one together, I have a couple dozen vintage synths and nice outboard, but negotiating a space in Sydney has proven difficult so far... What sort of gear are you hoping to have available? Some of the members here might be able to help, it would depend on what specific gear you wold like available, timing and so in.

try put an add out, and offer some money to a private musician, take ur own preamps + convertors and laptop, and record at their place! :)

there are surprising few people that have alot of synths and play em for fun! (a mate of mine in canada recently found our his next door neighbour had a near complete collection of moogs, and oberheims and was a demon at playing them, and only played on weekends!)

Haven't seen the studio since it relocated from Sydney to Melbourne a few years ago. But Fishtank Studio would probably fit the bill quite nicely.

A big yes for Fishtank. I've been there and it really is an impressive collection of gear. Well worth a look.

I've hired my studio out in the past.. I have ProTools, but most times, people bought in their own 'puter and recorded them playing around on the keys / drum machines / samplers..

What gear are you looking for?

Nothing terribly esoteric... at least as far as synthesizers go. A nice analogue with velocity control is about all I actually need. Other than that, a drum machine that can be controlled via midi would be a bonus... and perhaps a decent acoustic space to lay down a guitar track or two.

I have a laptop with a duet which I will happily use. :)

Josh has an almost unnatural obsession with synths and heaps of them are permantly patched in.

Hey Tim,

I must've missed your question. I was home for a few weeks in January, and couldn't handle it. Hahaha I love the place, but not ready to be back. Looks like I'll probably be back for a good while towards spring. =) Just trying to get the gears in motion. I have hard drives and note pads full of music that I am finally confident enough to unleash upon the world! =P
