Algorithmix Red GROUP BUY

Hello everyone,
To those who don't know me, my name's Dax Liniere.
I'm an engineer, producer and also beta tester for several companies.

On the Samplitude board, we were discussing a group buy of http://www.algorithmix.com/en/peq1.htmAlgorithmix Red Linear Phase EQ.
Many people showed interest, so I offered to organise it.

The street price is about us$1500, but I couldn't say what the final group price could be, because at this stage I have not contacted Petar at Algorithmix. I've opted instead to first see how many people are actually interested.


The official thread will be hosted at Gearslutz, only because I believe they have the biggest member-base.

how does group buy work for software?
most software allows for max 2 installs ...if you're lucky...

how does the Algorhythmix differ? is there a group license?

Hey Jamil, it's just a numbers thing, the more people you get to go in and order one each at the same time the lower the price the group gets as a whole, so each copy works out cheaper.

thats the first i've ever heard of group buying software :) but it makes sense, those Algo's aint cheap!

Hi Jamil,
A group buy is where 100 people (for example) get together and pledge to buy a product.
The organiser goes to the wholesaler/distributor/manufacturer and asks for a bulk price.
If all parties accept, then 100 items are delivered.

Have you seen any of the microphone or preamp group buys on gearslutz? I'm sure you could guess that 100 people don't buy one microphone and share it around. :)

i dont read GS that much,

and i only ever heard of group buys on GS when ppl were buying those mics and outboard from China.

A group buy can be for anything.
I've seen people offering group buy on drum samples.
It's as explained above.
Any manufacturer or distributor might be tempted to lower their price if a bunch of people guarantee to buy it.
It isn't that much different to how Woolworth's and Bunnings buy their wares.

Some software companies even organize their own group buys for customers with a log on their site as to how many have already joined and where the discount stands.
