Acer Arena isnt the greatest of venues I agree, but there's not a lot of choice of decent venues..
Horden Pav is probably the best place to see a band. Saw Cold Chisel Ringside there and it was good..
Metro is crap and Ent Cent not much better than Acer..
Still, acoustics aside, it was a great show..

Unfortunately, these level of tours can last 6 months to a year as it is, so swapping a couple of shows per city for a week or more would see a band out on the road for an eternity.
