I can't find anywhere that has this power supply in stock.. it's for the RNC1773. anybody know where i could find one?

my local jaycar dudes are being real unhelpful.

I've looked at those kinda places before Kristian, you can't seem to get this specific one though.. 9v AC is apparently really difficult to track down..

WES has them, though smallest size is 1 amp:

9v 1000ma ACA2000-9 $10.75

Dick Smith sells them but they cost more than that WES one, which seems really cheap. Pretty sure you can use the 1 amp for a 500mA unit, it's just the total current it's capable of. At least is works that way with dc...

I generally go to the trash and treasure markets for my wallwart needs.. Sure, you have to dig around, but normally $2 does the trick.

I think it's quite amusing that an AC wallwart is generally more expensive than a DC wallwart at Jaycar.

Last time I needed a AC wallwart, jaycar had a variable switched one, but once again it was about $30.. bah!

I got one of these from Jaycar last week for an RNC. Works fine.

you guys all know about the new MEPS regulations as they apply to plug packs?

Pretty soon the only DC plugpack you'll be able to buy in Aus will be a switchmode one and whilst AC plugpacks aren't affected at this stage it has spooked importers and they are getting hard to find, hence the difficulty in sourcing something as basic as a 9Vac plugpack.

Just go to Cash Converters they have boxes full of power supplies of random stuff and all usually anywhere from $1-5.
I have an RNC and am using a non genuin epower supply for years with no problems. Mines a powermaster 9V AC 650ma.
Honestly you would be surprised to see how many power packs they have and how old some of them are.
Beware they wont be tag and tested though.

From memory a lot of the earlier answering machines were 9volt ac.

I had a Rocktron Patchmate in my guitar rig yrs ago - it ran on 9VAC 1200mA - try finding one of those!!! Even harder.
Now I just get custom made power supplies for my gigging gear. All isolated and regulated (DC of course)..

My Frostwave was the hardest to replace after I lost the transformer - 16V AC 1 amp. I now guard the replacement with a pair of pitbulls.

hah, well my rnc originally came with a powermaster 650mA supply (i cant even find a replacement for the dodgy replacement!). i didn't even get a genuine one and i bought the thing brand new!

i guess i'll just have to go with the 1A supply then..

I bought a Line 6 X3 Live from the US and it came with the 120V to 9V 2000mA wall wart.

So, I bought a transformer from Harbuch, stuck an IEC socket, fuse and 2.1mm DC connector into a ABS plastic box and I was ready to go. In fact, I heard some stuff on the Line 6 site that suggested the 2000mA was not really sufficient to drive the unit, so I got a heftier transformer.

DIY was the go for me.

they are pretty good also at making custom transformers. I have had a few custom toroids wound.

I know Harbuchs – Ive used their custom jobbies for my guitar rack requirements over the years..

just to put this thread to bed, i bought the jaycar 9v1A supply. seems to work fine.
