DAW with fine gain increments

Hey all, I'm after a DAW that offers gain increments of 0.01dB. Any thoughts?

Nuendo does it if you hold the shift key as you move the slider, I just tried it, without the shift key the level display changes in 1.00dB steps, with the shift key down it changes in 0.01dB steps. I assume Cubase would be the same?
Rather than buy a new DAW, maybe there are plug-in's that will adjust at those resolutions too?

Cubase does it. I just double click the level window and type it in. It has 2 decimal places, maybe it could do 3, I've never tried.
I worked with a famous engineer once, I was producing when I was in a band and I thought the vocal was a touch low. He said I'll turn it up half a db. I said can people hear half a db difference? He said "You can in one of my mixes" Haaaaa.
The 'shift' key modifier that Nymo mentioned to mouse finer increments works in quite a few systems.

think you mean command/apple key (on a mac at least)?
and unless PT8 is different, i think you also mean .1dB (mark's after .01dB which is extremely fine).
sequoia does it (and therefore samplitude probably does as well)

and yes, there are a number of plugs that do this.... Sonalksis StereoTools and Flux Stereo Tool come to mind

Hey Mark, tried this today and just confirming Cubase 5 does do .01dB on all faders. I tried .009 and it rounded to .01, so there must be some rounding after 2 decimal places, just like Safeway.

you are right wez - I read 0.1, not 0.01
my bad.
PT only does 0.1 incrememnts.. not sure about PT 8 though - I'm still on 7.4cs8
I've got Flux Stereo Tool and its great - I'd forgotten about its fine resolution mode.

I had a debate in class with an electronics lecturer at RMIT in '91.. he was claiming nobody could hear less than, something like, 2dB changes.
Very easy to hear 0.5dB, especially with broad bandwidth EQ or mix level, and often something as sensitive as vocal level in a mix.
