Sony Music Studios closing ...

Postby chris p » Wed Nov 02, 2005 6:59 pm

I got tired of looking up this thread under "Apogee Problems" - it deserves its own thread.

To those in the know - is there no chance of a complete buyout? It seems such a shame for high class facilities to be lost like this, and what's the alternative now? 301 @ byron???

Soooo, anyway want to play "guess the auction date"? Anyone want to form a buying syndicate?

At the risk of seeming goulish, the gear list is at

for those not in the know
sony music studios is in the basement of sony records !
so a buyout would be impractical to say the least.

i hear they are restucturing (getting smaller and more focused on sonys product needs and developments)

there are a bunch of people who work in the studio that are living through this restucture and are probably far more concerned about their future employment and income then the folks that are stressing ,trying to get a for sale list
first

have some compassion folks

No one denies the human element, Rick, and I suspect that most of us have been in their shoes (or something like it) at various points in our lives.

But that is not in our control. This thread is (or was intended to be) about two things: the impact of the closure on the Australian music industry and whether the resources represented by Sony's investment in gear can be saved for the Australian industry.

It WAS, after all, you yourself who, in the other thread, posted

so whos going to buy that neve board....?
start saving

This thread lacks no less compassion than your own.

true very true,so sure i apoligise if i seem up on my high horse

it was not the this thread that needs the compassion it was the 9 phone calls i got out of the blue. sometimes i just assume the internet and the telephone have the same voices on it
so sorry about that.

i have had some pretty mercenary phone calls on this subject with all kinds of plans and offers to make the most of the situation and the thing is sony has absolutely nothing to do with me.

so thats really why i posted , i am not interested in carving up the spoils of another big studio gone down, mine is not going anywhere , in fact things have never been so good .

but as they say adversity could be just around the corner....
