Just came back from a new mixer install.
The Mackie mixer was going to cost too much to service so we bought a new 32 channel Yamaha desk to last us the next 5 years while we save for a midas or something of that quality.
It seems different brands of mixers have the same features but sometimes call them different things and have a different way of routing them.
My problem is I drink about 3 large cups of expresso coffee a day.
When doing this install you had to work through logically the signal flows from the various ins and outs and busses and aux's.
The last time I did this was in 2005 which did not seem a problem but I was consuming less coffee back then.
My brain found it hard to concentrate on the task and seemed a little fuzzy on some areas and needed guidance from another source to make it happen.
Is this what comes with old age - or excess coffee or just because I do night shift and am not used to working earlier on in the day with brain solving puzzles.
Anyone else have these problems?

Yes I have the same problem till I have my 4th or 5th cup, then I'm on fire.

Yep....me too...righ up there!....... Life would be complicated if every day wasn't the same. Consistent sameness........I even always have enough cash to buy new shoe laces whenever the need arises, although these days i save on that one by wearing Blunstones.

the issue is easy.. ONLY 3 cups a day....

you need more.. you have to much blood in your caffeine stream....

Tell us more about your Yamaha desk - and the process by which you came to it out of the alternatives I'm sure you faced. I'm interested in these perspectives at the moment.

The church i go to had the usual scenario - no money - so they wanted to buy something to replace the 9 year old Mackie that was cheap but better then a B e h r i n g e r.
The church often calls on the services of a particular audio company and they were the suppliers of the desk. We had a few options and chose the Yamaha due to price and features. It "in my opinion" would be a desk that would only give about 5 years of troublefree performance at our location, so the idea was to buy it to get out of our jam and save up for a better quality desk. Whatever "better" means.
