Someone posted about some strings they had recorded via the net for their album, I think it was a guy in the UK that provicdes the service? I can't find the original thread.
Was it Kristian or one of the Chris's? Could whoever it was chime in so i can pm you for the details please?

I think there is a guy in Sydney or Brisbane that also offers this sort of online service - saw a post about it a while ago..
Could have been at GS somewhere..

I'll do a cheap recorder piece for you :)

I may or may not need a section of around 14 violins playing a part in octave unisons for a total of 4 bars. I usually use MSO players but it's such a small part I don't think the client will spring for a normal call here. I was thinking if the online dude does a whole bunch of things in one call maybe it would be affordable for them. It's a fairly legato part with a glissando at the end and would sound a lot better with real players.
I will present the option of a recorder part to them also....

It's really taken the tracks to another level altogether. I could only afford 3 songs but it was worth it... mid 4 figures.

It would probably be cheaper to use local players for such a small session. You could probably hire 7 players and double track to save bucks?

I know a studio double bass player in Sydney if that's any help.
I'm sure he could put together an affordable section.
I also know a film composer who records strings (for himself) on a budget in London. He could probably point you in the right direction..... and his wife is a freelance violinist.
Finding someone to do 4 bars affordably might be a challenge. Often there's a 3 hour session minimum, even at basement prices.

4 bars..im sure an extensive sample library solution like EW Symph Strings, or VSL could do the job.

u could spend the hassle time involved in tracking the players down at a budget .. programming the midi just right :-)

EWQL Symphony Orchestra Gold has awesomne string ensembles..

It can work if you use a good sample library and then record a couple of real players (violin and viola perhaps) to add the human element. Maybe double track them.

I forgot to mention the guys at www.newyorkbrass.com.

They can do strings as well. It's all the guys and gals that play Broadway shows at night and do sessions during the day. People who have played for Sinatra, Streisand etc. High quality.
