Well I have had only a couple of days use of the Jade and I must say I'm impressed. Not only by the sound I'm getting out of it, but still pinching myself about how inexpensive this mic is.
The Jade is very quiet, has a nice tight (not rumbly) bottom end, nice mids and real presents on the top end without sounding tinny. The over all sound has some colour so it's not a boring mic, just great on vocals. Well I've only tried it on vocals so far, but it has a wow factor.
Before you guys go out and buy some Chinese mics or over priced German mics. Try this home grown brand and get very impressed like me.
Can't wait to buy some more of these.

Has anyone tried their PARA 1 or PARA 2 mic preamps? The Texture control affecting the 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion sounds intriuging

Yeah I'm keen on a Phelicity, great prices too. i guess I'll have to wait a few months but I will get one. Maybe on my next trip up to Byron Bay.

Actually last time I was up there I saw a fella driving the Beez Neez van down to the beachfront and doing some sort of sunset ritual on a Mal, was that you Ben? Heh.

I'm eyeing off a beezneez mic. Which would guys recommend for a studio all-rounder? The Jade or James?

Haven't heard the James only the Jade. Get both :)
But I like what I'm hearing with the Jade, I'm sure Ben would let you swap one for the other if you didn't like it. Give him a ring.

Why don't you just bounce down the tracks using the UAD and then re-apply the plug to the other tracks?

The BeesNeez mics are just fantastic and the price is unbelievable. These mics would compare to other brands going for $4K to $6K, I can see the prices going up in the not so distant future.
Ben is flat out getting the new builds out.

why the James?
I want to get one of Ben's mics, but don't know which one to get - Its hard to buy a mic when one has not heard the difference between each model. I need a good (great) vocal mic for the Silverchair album.
Can anyone tell me how they stack up against Wagner 47 or any Neumanns - I need some comparisons to head me in the right direction - Angus - you seem to have a fair bit of experience with these compared to other mics.
I'm after big/clear/warm/in ya face - and able to throw in front of a guitar amp too...
And i want to support Ben's products - but don't have the time to try out endless mic's...
Help!

Also do not care if the body is from China - (Ive seen some nice Chinese body's in my travels)

he did have some oem models left. But only a limited nimber of them. They are cheaper then the newer models so get in quick cause at last count on the Jade scenario there was 4 left and then I organised a mate to buy 2 of them and that was 3 weeks ago. Same deal on the James stuff.

You can borrow my Jade and James when Burk brings the Jade back and the James gets here.

I am doing vocals in Tasmania, and need a mic by the 23rd Oct - but without trying it out first scares me a touch - too big an album to be experimenting with unknown mic character- let alone time....
I may have to get the 2nd Wagner from BJB - at least I know it intimately - and always get good results

Hey Chris,
Why don't you just contact Ben and get his opinion. I'm sure he would be thrilled to know one of his mics could be used on such a big album.
Tell him what your after, he'll know which mic you should try.

I've emailed Ben - and spoken before about getting a beez neez
I just found out yesterday that I need a mic by the 23rd
Ben knows about the album - its just a bit rushed to get a mic in time...
I'll see how it all pans out and if I can get something in time or not - otherwise i will hire a BJB Wagner

I dont find the James dark or bright. I hate using words to describe mics because they are so based on the limited experience you have with mics.

I'm not in a situation to try things out really on this album - I would have liked to try some Beez Neez mics on a project before this one so i could have gotten used to them first
I am doing vocals in my house in tasmania (just for inspiration and a change of scenery) and I don't have a separate room for vocals to sit behind a glass wall - I may bite the bullet and get a T1 if there are any available - or use the Wagner47.
I am also wanting this mic for my personal toolbox for many future projects too
I am really fussy with mics, and want to avoid making the wrong sonic choice - only to find that the character is not what i am really after
Its too big an album to be experimenting with mics - as you guys know first takes can be the best - we have been using a vintage U67 on a couple of tracks so far with great results (as one would expect)
I just want to put the mic up - cook it and print it - no mukin around on my end of things - keep the magic alive!
Thanks for the offer - I can try Nics one at BJB to get used to the sonic character of the Beez Neez on a less important record (if you know what I mean).
