Well what a slippery slope i'm on..
First that T-Racks experience and now this..
@ leaset the T-Racks was virtually free (six single plugs for the price of one).
Mixing these into my hardware chain just had me making new magic in no time, So i thought its time
to buy an ilok key and do some serious demo'ing of all the greats and most of the not so great
plugs that are on offer and that promise the world... Well you kinda get a feel for where this is going..

I shelled out $1150 Aussie buckuroos for just two of the Native Waves Plug in bundles.
Now that may seem like crazy talk, but This weeks session work will have that covered (almost) so...

My hardware chain reads like Apple/Grace Design/MillenniaMedia/Focusrite/Mytec/WavesL2/Sony/Apple etc..
So I'm not a ITB kinda guy, But a little magic before she leaves the land of digital has me doing things
that my clients are over the moon about.
But back to me.. ;-)
I was planning on getting some new hardware (remember my quest for a Tape machine),
or maybe a neve/xxx/api/$$$ brand summing mixer, or whatever everyone on gearslutz was ranting about yesterday.
But regardless of the choice i ended up making, I think i got a massive bang for my buck.. even @ a grand+
with nothing new or sexy with cool LEDS in my rack to show, shine..or just admire.. Go figure ;-)

If you're considering buying more Waves stuff, look out for an ebay seller by the name of Dutchmuzik. Great deals and with our dollar climbing it could be even better. I've bought a stack of plugs from him, no problems.

I did the web searching for deals, emailed all the usual suspects including ebay,
had those prices and then he saved me US$100+ on them. Very happy.

Yeah I'll probably have to buy a few waves bundles, but I'll be looking for the cheapest legit copies available, as they just are'nt that good and I'm not paying that much. Though they do come in handy for sure.

Most of the plugs I've used are average at best, though there are some good quality ones. PSP are some of the best, Sonalksis make a couple of pretty cool ones also. though my fav plug is Altiverb, it's great. Nebula sounds very good but is way too cpu intensive.

Algorithmix sound great but will leave you poor for the whole next year.

Oh contrair..
For the things i do.. and the way i do them (using all my wares, hard and soft).
I believe that i have found tools that truly shine in their (my) calling.
But I dont just plug things into a chain and leave it at that..
I'd plug in a toaster if i thought it might give me what i was lookin for..

Anyway, as i deal only in post audio production, my needs in regards to compression
may differ from a tracking suite, So point taken.

But I'm still smilin bout this new sound and control these toys are affording my same same rig..

Oh and the 'Nomad Factory' has some very nice emulation plugs, They were the only other plugs i liked.. and i tried most of the above mentioned :-)

The PSP Audio delays are killers.

I'm much more OTB too, but I just downloaded Timeless 2 by Fabfilter and it sounds great!

I am a delay junkie and agree with the above comments about PSP and Fabfilter Timeless. Fantastic stuff and the CPU overhead on both is tiny for the quality of sound.

Since I got my UAD-2 card I now have a new favourite delay though.. the Cooper Time Cube. Magic.

FLUX plugs are somthing i'm looking into as well.
They are very special indeadie.. And as long as your only working in 44.1k or 48k (no higher :-( ) their Demos period
never times out (you cant save settings.. so you'll always have to have a pen handy..;-)

They are a little complex, but check them out and share your thoughts..

i like the new turtlerock plugs that go into the weiss/maya converter
they have carbon fibre outer casings so they "go faster"
and have been cryogenically frozen to counter act all that warmth
they cost $10,000 each
err and i have to send the leads back when they remember i refused to pay for them ... just try them anyway they said :)

That's it..
No more software, or hardware that needs 4th generation 3rd party up, down, or side grades like weiss/waves/webber or hitachi..
I'm going to wait right here, not finish any jobs, stop surfing the the web, and look up to the stars...
They will come..... And when they do, my reward for my seamingly absurd belief in them will be rewarded
with a promised treasure trove of their ALIENAUDIOTECHNOLOGIACLLYADVANCEDBIOSYNTHETICALLYNANOSYMETRICALLYGODHEADCUPPLINGPOINTS..
Out there in the stars, all pieces of studio equiptment/softwares and all cableings that we already know are redundant.
So save your visa/mastercards from ebay binges, and trips to the arctics poles to bury your suitcases full of copper wound,
and i'll unplug my toaster from my Millennia Media NSEQ-2 and go back to useing it for breakfast, because they are comming,
and no SWISSARMYNKIFE DA/AD/ABADABADO will compare to MY NEW SOUND (or lack of)............
Hmm... thats when they come... :-)
