lol i guess its gonna be the new "industry standard".
but seriously tho i really liked the tones in it. sounds great, maybe better than the axefx?? im not sure but the demos sounded great.
funny thing about it is that it looks like a 003 modded into a fancy guitar effects rack.

There are a whole bunch of these types of things now... What ever happened to having an amp?!

AxeFX, Eleven, Pod, V-Amp, V-Machines.. You could (I think) also use Muse and Receptor.

Is it Receptor that has multi I/O? If so it could do a whole band... Guitars, Bass, Synths, Vocal Processing, drum sounds... All in 2 rack spaces!

Sorry, it's Plugzilla that has multi I/O, receptor is stereo only.

I had a POD XT Pro in my guitar rig years ago (along with heaps of other 'analogue' gear).
They are good for certainly getting ideas down quickly., but certainly need tweaking if you want to get more out of them. Basic presets are just the starting point.
Although, the Eleven rack sounds pretty good from the online smaples you can hear..
I still love my amp better though..

I just read about the Eleven Rack today. It does look like an orange 003. I think it'll have its place in the studio, when bands don't have decent amps and your not Simon B.
It would be handy to have in that situation to just keep the session moving. I haven't heard the samples, but it would have to be an improvment on the old pods hey?

i just checked the pricing on this thing, its apparently 900 bucks (not sure since i read it off the 'sluts forum).
and apparently they have the same converters as of the 003's.

Hmmm. It's tempting. It certainly has that "cool gimmickness" to it.

No latency. Hmmm, I don't find tracking guitar with 512 samples much of a problem. (maybe that's why all my takes are behind the beat. lol.Kidding) Drummers can barely stand 64 samples I've found. But for guitars. Nah.

$1395 is not a bad price though. I mean I would have expected it to be 2K+. But same Ad/DA's yeah? Not much more than my MBOX2. Ok, I could send a stereo track through the outboard compressor and in again (can't do it with my MBOX2). AES/EBU is only stereo right? Not like a break out cable to give 8 in, 8 out or anything right? So i/o is not really tempting. Is the mic preamp any good, or is it just like the ordinary 003 or MBOX preamps that most people frown upon?

The question I have is can it 'host multiple guitar plug-in instantations' to relieve my laptop from running those plug-ins. Or is it just a re-amp solution? I know it's meant to record 3 tracks for every take. Effected Version, Dry version and something else. But seriously i could "re-amp" by bouncing a track or using Audiosuite version of the plugin. OK, re-amping externally fair enough. Um I could get one of those re-amp boxes for a couple of hundred though right?

Don't get me wrong. I still love the thing....haha. It looks cool and being able to adjust your sounds with knobs and have the entire Eleven suite of software on there. But I don't think i'd like to put it in my live rig. It would probably die and already have a Marshal JMP-1 that I'm quite happy with.

Rob Squire (ProHarmonic) makes the Passive Link (ReAmp device + tone control) and the Missing Link (ReAmp/DI + tone control) at pretty good prices.
Check the Proharmonic website for more details. They look awesome and are built to last a nuclear attack!
I'll be getting a Passive Link very soon..

At $1400 ... call me crazy, but I'd buy an AC15

"At $1400 ... call me crazy, but I'd buy an AC15"

true, you could but I suppose the point of these things is that they're great for people who want an emulation of not only a AC15 but also loads of other amps as well as loads of effects pedals. not only that but you don't need a soundproofed studio, good microphones and pres. throw in the fact that you're basically getting a 003 (almost) and all the software that goes along with it, then this seems like an amazing deal to me and and another very powerful tool for songwriters, session musicans and producers.

(having said all that, I haven't actually heard it!)

There are some audio samples on this page.
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?lan ... D-BN-11R20

Now I previously listened to them just on my PC with desktop speakers and I thought, "yeah status-quo sim".

But tonight I listened through in my studio. They sound very, very, very good! It's quite impressive actually.

I'd also be interested if I could plug in an external mic preamp which would completely bypass the digi-preamp? I can't use the line in on my MBOX2. Any one know if I could plug in my VTB1 on this thing without using Digidesigns preamp aswell. lol?

1400 is too much imo. It doesn't even come with a full version of LE

Too much!?? do you remember when the Pod pro (rack mount pod) came out? Was more than this and all it did was simulate different amps (badly)

I think its priced ok for what your getting.

Yeah, I agree, however they did raise the bar on their sims with the POD XT Pro - I had that and it wasnt bad at all..
Gotta get the Amp upgrades though - essential..

Just spent $1500 on a VettaII combo from line6. Bucketloads of amps, stomps, mics etc... and waaaaay to much power for me. I have GuitarRig, Amplitube and I even use the Logic GuitarAmp a bit too.... I'm such a sim fan, but I still love my AC30 way more, it just doesn't do EVERYTHING like the Vetta does.

Yep i remember, times have changed and the aussie dollar is atleast 50% stronger than when the Pod Pro rack was releasd.

It should be no more than 1K

Thanks tim for the heads-up.
A few years ago I used to poo on all these emulation software and hardware products, but I have now joined the move and digging it. Finally I am doing what I started to do 12 years ago....... writing and recording my compositions without a band, just me.
Bring it on.

No probs nIC.
I've been using Guitar Rig 2/3 and Waves GTR3 for amp sims and they arent too bad, but not perfect.
I'd really like to try an Eleven rack (or even the software version) as well - the new POD's are supposed to be pretty good now too..
I think digital software is slowly getting better, its just still hasnt got the 'feel' aspect right yet!
However, I'm going to reamp all my tracks with my CAE 3+ preamp when I get my reamp device shortly.

I've tried all sorts of guitar gizmos, some of the hardware amp sims are pretty good, a couple of mates have the zoom g7 thing and it sounds pretty damn good. The plugin sims though I just can't enjoy yet.

The DD thing could be cool, I'd give it a test run if I still played.

Yes, the Passive Link.
The Missing Link also has a DI as well..
Not sure which one to choose though!!
Speaking of Rob, I must get my Byer 66 over to him soon.

It would be interesting to see what the cabinet simulators are like in the 11. It might be an interesting option to run behind an amp;

3+ into the 11 with cab sims on.
Wurlitzer into cab sims?
Synths into cab sims?

etc, etc.
