Audio Tech in Singapore?

Hi all,

have a stopover in Singapore coming up and have been told it's a good place to shop for all things tech. Wondering if anyone has any tips on places to shop – specifically for audio gear.

For computer stuff go to Sim Lim Square, nearest train station is Bugis. There's also a few audio retailers in the building like Hung Brothers and Esden Trading. Be prepared to bargain your ass off, shops there are known for ripping off tourists, especially if you're Caucasian. Best if you can bring along a local associate.

For electrical components stuff head to Sim Lim Tower just 2 streets across.

For guitar stuff go to Peninsular Plaza, many music stores lurk in the basement. Otherwise google Swee Lee for the biggest retailer in Singapore. They have a warehouse outlet just 10 mins from city central.

Used to bargaining – have spent time living and working in SE Asia, just part of the fun.

Any food spots I should add to my list of things to check out? Have flown through Singapore a bunch of times but never had the time to leave the airport.

Now where do I start...way too many places to list. Here's a couple of good guides:

Avoid hotels & restaurants...head to the hawker centres & food courts for the real deal (cheap too).
Places like Katong, Siglap, Changi Village, Chinatown, Geylang are definitely worth checking out.

Hop onto a cab & get friendly with the driver, they're usually the ones who know the best food spots, taxi fare is cheaper in Singapore too. Or if you're adventurous take the bus & train!

People speak English in Singapore & road signs are all in English so it won't be hard finding your way around.
