MUTE OR MOOT? CV's downloads in AT

Postby TimS » Sat Nov 21, 2009 9:46 am

Has anyone read the article and downloaded the files (.aif 100mb each - analogue, digital, composite)?
I haven't had much time to read the current AT (70) lately (I'm doing my PhD), but found Chris' article to be really good.
I just downloaded the files into PT and had a listen, latching the solo between each track.

Has anyone else reviewed the comparisons?
Would be interested to hear different POV's.

I presume you mean X-OR (cancels previous solo). So you can A/B them.

I'd be interested to know too what people have found. I've heard everything from 'there's no difference' to 'night and day'. I haven't yet seen this months AT but heard that Stav did a digital remix, which should be interesting.

If anything I found it rather humbling as digital sure sounds pretty good these days.

Even though the digital mix was good I really did prefer the analog mix, vox sounded fuller, drums sound more rounded and guits were way better. But yeah no matter which way you look at it both are good.

As soon as I read the first paragraph about reversing the vox to compress them reversed, I stopped reading...

I thought we weren't supposed to be doing that again.

Mind you, when I see that their web site says its out and I havnt got if for at least a week or more since web site says its out - I get disappointed.

I keep asking my wife when I get home, "did my AT mag come" and she keeps saying "no"

Maybe today. She has gone to visit a friend in Sydney, so it better be there this arvo.

Unlike a lot of other things audio and broadcasting .... ( eg ABC auctions) ..... does this indicate that AT is not as Sydney - centric ?
