a good chrismas story

Postby Simon B » Tue Dec 22, 2009 2:41 pm

this comes from the only other forum I goto, but its a cool heartwarming story.

"AMAZING story to share...

Hi all,

Yesterday I was at Tym guitars just hanging out playing a pedal... (A WMD Geiger Counter... wow what a pedal!) And Keith Urban and his whole band walked into the store.

I stopped playing after I realised who he was and he turned around and said, "Dude, Dont stop playing your crazy cool box of destruction just cause im here". I said cool man! and kept jamming. One of his guitarists sat down next to me and was admiring the pedal. they were American and REALLY friendly.

They kept shopping and Keith found an old 1962 semi hollow body elec Maton that he liked. He gave it to his guitarist to have a play and I said "hey man plug it in the amp here". He said thanks mate, Had a bit of a jam and was diggin it. Keith picked it up again and said "Its all beat up", I said to him... "yeah but thats mojo!" And he said "yeah man your right.... And its Australian!"

So he went to the counter and payed for his guitar and also bought a T Shirt. As he walked out he shook my hand and said "Merry Christmas mate!". I though wow! what a down to earth guy... He was really nice!

So he walked out of the store and Tim walked over to me and said Hey dude "Keith just bought you that pedal for Christmas!!!!!!!!" I was speechless, and shaking somewhat! I mean the pedal was $455!!!! thumbzup yep smile yikes_1

He apparently leant over to Tim and said, "hey mate how much is the crazy fuzz box the kid is playing".. Tim said "$455", He said "Put it on my card, and tell him Merry christmas after I leave!"..

Safe to say... that has restored my faith in humanity!!!! Ive had a bit of a shit year in some respects... but that was the most awesome thing anyone has ever done for me!!

Just thought id share.... cause im STILL blown away!!!! yep

Mark"

Awesome story. Good one Keith.

They played him doing an acoustic version of a song maybe called "For worse or for better"? on Video Hits on the weekend. It was him solo acoustic at the Blue Fest last year I think, and his mic technique was really impressive.

edit : It was called "I told you so"

Oh, that's so cool. In 20 years people will think that it's an Urban Legend.....ok, seriously that was no pun intended - I just figured out as I was typing. lol

Ah...no...I mean I meant it to be a pun....
