Is there a working Neve 1073 console in Australia?

And if there is, is it at a studio that one could hire?

I'm not working on anything that has a budget that could afford it, just wondered if it was out there.

1073 is the pre/eq module from a 80 series console. You might mean a Neve 8078 or similar.
Neil Finn's Studio in NZ has the old Bearsville Studio 8088 installed. It was originally built for "The Who". It has 1093 modules though. http://www.roundheadstudios.com/
Yummy.
I'm planning a visit there as soon as possible. Just got to find a band with a budget that big. :)

There sure is. Have a look at Hothouse studios here in Melbourne. Its a 2408 loaded with 1073's. Apparently the old Alberts board which from what i've been told recorded some early AC/DC records.

Sound on Stage have the old ABC OB van console. I think it's got 3115 modules from memory. I worked on a live album once and we used that OB truck and console. I think it was also used for the second Eagles DVD shot in Melbourne a few years back.

301 Byron has the old Festival Studios Neve.... I think that has 1081 modules? Anyone?

York Street in Auckland has an old EMI Neve which is beautiful... only 7 ever made... and has 1093 modules.

Totally! :)

Actually my studio isn't finished so it would be handy to be able to hire somewhere close with good gear.

I'm down in the Shoalhaven, why isn't Tony "the tonmeister" Pearson on my people to know and love radar?

Who are these intriguing people? :)

"Craig and/or Finn there would be happy to show you around the place."

I think I'm going to give them a call Adam. They have way more guitars than Tony!

And Angus, I've heard whispers of the mysterious sunshine neve for quite a few years now. would be interesting to know whats going on with that particular piece of Brisbane music history..

Well, Eve, I'm 5km away in Medlow, and at least I've got a mini-Neve (8816) in my mini-studio
Doesn't Leon Prescott have a Neve console collecting dust up here somewhere in Brissie?
24 Ch I seem to remember.
Used to be the console in Leon's studio 'Sunshine'.
Does it have 1073's in it?
I thought he ended up in some room that was already fitted out by the previous clients over at West End. He just had to add his gear. Could be wrong.
Just spoke to Leon.
His Neve desk has custom 1081 modules in it - 24 Mono channels.
2 x 2254 Comp's, 8 Aux sends, Stereo or Quadraphonic with patch bays etc.
It is currently in storage in Brisbane and is for sale - anyone interested?
Cool. Now all i need is money. Anyone got some spare cash that they would like to see go to a good cause ;-)

Depends what you're after... I have a pair of /E's . The only difference is the fast release on the limiter. That seems to be the only reason people call them the preferred model. To be honest I use the compression side a lot more than the limiters (lives on backing vocals), but it is handy to have when you need it. I'm unsure as to what the actual time differences are on the release.
