I just got handed the original session masters for one of my "hero" bands growing up. Both the Master tapes and Session notes.

They had been sitting in a shed...

My guess is it will be an East Coast based band, .......wouldn,t be too high profile as i assume the tapes would be looked after so probably not INXS, Chisel or Oils .... possibly a band like Icehouse or Dragon.......Probably not Sebastian Hardy....maybe Ayres Rock??...... Diesel?? ok Smash you have us quessing...throw out a hint, and Rick can offer a prize to the one who gets it first.....gee thanks rick:)...if rick's too busy with the goings on then a pack of iced vovo's will have to do.
I had a 1/4 inch master of Frampton Comes Alive on my Ampex AG440 a few years ago....was the master that was used for the Australian pressings.

It's The Dugites!!!

Back east......being one of Smash's "hero bands" i'd bet on it being the Toe Cutters!!

i dont think smash is old enough to know how beautiful lynsey was in her day :)

either way smash no matter how you got them , what your going to do with
they still actually belong to the copyright holder !
and they might be very thankful that you have found them for them !

i just spent an hour on the phone with paul kellys crew , apparently the record company have misplaced the masters to the 12 album box set i did a couple of years ago , and that is not even released yet !
the thing is i just i knew they would ... turkeys

we are just trying to figure out were the masters might be know and what to do about it .

so smash spill the beans maybe i can bake the tapes and transfer them and you might get your name on your heros
record release for next year :)


by the way if its the honeymoon , or the sportz i need to know :)

Sorry guys not going to announce who it is here.

Let's just say it is a smaller band who was nonetheless a big influence on me as a young muso.

The band has had a few changes of membership and label.

I don't need any recognition, I don't want to get involved in a legal argument - I'm just going to give the tapes directly to one of the original songwriters, who is still in the band, and whom I had already previously met.

I think I know the tapes that Smash is referring to. At the time all 4 artists involved in the band were on the same page. Over the years they moved on and all are now bound to different publishing/recording deals. To specify what tapes are in existence would be unwise given all the new possibly interested parties. I'm just glad he saved them from sitting in a giant shed with temps of over 30 degrees celsius most days. Even though the music isn't that widespread out of gospel circles, the music in question was the first of it's kind and has a definite value to some.

Thanks Kristian, I was trying to draft a post with words to that exact effect.

Let me just say that I wasn't trying to tease at all, it was the concept I was trying to share, I was excited to have found the tapes for a band that influenced ME growing up.

Putting the name of the artists on a public forum won't benefit anyone here, but will probably cause dramas, for the reasons previously outlined above.

Gee one of those boys goes to the church I was at still.
I actually got one bass lesson from one of the other boys.
He certainly knew how to groove.
Although none of those boys are with the band now.
Yes and if its those boys we are talking about I am pretty sure they have sold more albumns then I think Jonny Farnham has.

Avion was waaay before Smash's time. Though the Waller boys still play around town a lot. Randall played some guitars on the album I just finished.

Newsboys early days also before Smash.

Is that Chris Falson= guitarist and Whats that keyboard players name wjho was the music director for some time and did John waller play drums on their stuff?
I did not think Prayerworks was that inspirational. It certainly wasnt in our neck of the woods. Although they are still talented musco's. I remember watching that guitar player shred at the Youth alive concerts back in the early 90's. Actually I take that back, some of those guys were the reason I started playing.
Those youth alive - Rock the Flock days were times I will never forget.
I wonder what Pat Meseti is doing now?

John and Randall Waller are playing this weekend at Palm Beach (sydney)- along with Peter Northcote and Paul Christie - should be a bit of a guitar fest I suspect.

John Waller played on the Youth Alive stuff you mentioned along with Dave Holmes on guitar, Neville L'Green on bass and Jeff Crabtree on keys. This was when Youth Alive was run by the AOG church group, pre-Hillsong.

The Prayerworks configuration was Jeff Crabtree on keys, Andrew Naylor on bass, Dave Holmes on guitar and Richard Fowler on drums with Hugh Wilson (from the band Vertigo, had the single 'Forever Lately') as co-producer/engineer.

Randall Waller spent about 4 years in Nashville playing for Keith Urban and Shania Twain.
