Metal Engineers- Who, Where etc'?

Postby original_min » Thu May 27, 2010 5:14 pm

That was a crap title....

We are needing an engineer to handle some of our live/studio metal clients
Who's good in that style?

Live & Studio

The venue/studio is Musicland, Fawkner, Victoria
Approx 1-400 heads in venue for idea of size, refurbishing as mad as we can before venue doors open again. It's a production venue not a gig joint.

FOH & Studio, studio has some decent outboard, FOH pretty straightup, but good.

FOH on a Crest 40 channel, to decent amps, stacks etc'.
Also has 24 bit Alesis HD for A/D to Pro Tools for recording live.

Studio is a Wheatstone, 72ch MOTU, Logic, DP, Pro Tools & UAD, then a few racks of vintish stuff for outboard. Urei, Neve, API, Lexicon, Eventide, Valley, Orban etc'
Mix room 5m, O'D room 5m, Vocal Booth and another room I haven't worked out yet...

We're chasing an uber metal dude/ette engineer to make it all happen for those folks dedicated to the hard stuff. I need freedom to run off and build things....

If anyone knows who, what, whatever please lemme know.

I'm not into that scene at all myself, but I do know that Sam Johnson gets the vote by so many metal bands to record them it's not funny. A mate also, he works out of three phase but he does live work and I'm sure wouldn't be adversed to doing hours elsewhere.

Check him out at:

His productions and ears for that scene are remarkably sharp.
