Hadn't heard of them until recently. A quick forum search for crookwood comes up with nil. Anyone had experience with them, or know them by reputation? Anyone know their products good points/bad points? (Mainly concerned with the mastering consoles)

From what i have read mainly on PSW, (ie no 1st hand experience) amongst mastering engineers they were popular quite a fewy ears ago but now its the Cranesong Avocet and Manley Backbone that are the popular choices. If there is not much of a price difference I would look into why the others are preferred.
A search or a post on Brad Blackwoods forum on PSW will get you some opinions.

i nearly bought a crookwood system (the exchange rate at the time killed the deal... USD 0.57!)

anyway, for what it's worth.... Crispin at crookwood was brilliant to deal with, very helpful, communicative. i felt bad not buying from him in the end.

so at least from that end i reckon it would be a great decision.

I take it we are talking the 'cost effective' end of the mastering console market? (Hadn't looked at the price till now)

The top remote guys on GS use Crookwood for their "go-to" for classical recording: reportedly better and more accurate than most preamps out there.There is apparently a new model out recently, and no-one has mentioned them being out of the game.
Do a 'paintpot" search on GS in the Remote & acoustic recording section.

if you need "what if..?" flexibility
