Hi All,

Need a couple of pieces seen to.

Not so good with a soldering iron and need someone to troubleshoot some seventh circle preamps I have.
Also need to get a service on my Avalon 747.

I have Steve Wilson for a contact in St Peters.

Is there anyone on the northside who can do this kind of work? I.e - Northern Beaches/North Sydney/North Shore - or should I just see Steve?

I would recommend Rob to service your 747. He did a top repair job on minewhen the input stage burnt out. Aparently there was a fix needed to be done to the original design of the earlier 747's,..... just a small mod but because Rob new all about it, it saved me a lot of money. Correct diagnosis if often the most important skill.

Rob - what modification do you do to the unit - is it to do with attack/release times?

The mod i was referring to was if my memory is correct, something to do with the value of a resister needing to be changed on the input PCB to correct the problem otherwise the input section can fry a few components.
I have wondered too about other mods for the 747. Mine seems a bit sensitive when adjusting the ratio. As my ratio pot is indented, one click can bee too much when the original setting is not quite enough so the adjustments often seem too coarse. It would suit me if those settings from click to click were much finer. Any thought Rob?
