Go the 'Vo....

Postby Thirteen » Tue Sep 14, 2010 5:15 pm

Just found a lone packet of Iced VoVo's in my local corner shop. Expiry date - This month. The shopkeeper insists that they are not discontinued, but he says that no-one wants to stock them. Go figure. Kettle is on.

I know this is going to upset some you guys but I'm going to put it out there anyway. I LIKE TIM TAMS WAY MORE THAN ICED VOVOS!!!

In fact, if my girlfriend doesn't physically stop me by hiding them, I just knock over the whole packet during an episode of the bill.

Ok so what are you saying rick? New TRF currency = tim tams?
I like mine with both ends bitten off and a nice cup of fresh chilli coco. 8-) Suck it up through the tim tam straw.

BTW, I don't think vovo's are so geographical, it's just a bit of a nanna thing me thinks.

I'd say maybe the vovo is a bit to 80's for the current climate.

Really? I remember having iced vovoa was when I was about 5 and that was in 1973, and coz I was so young, couldn't have a coffee with it, so they gave me some watered down cordial (probably Tang or something back then) in those coloured anodised aluminium drinking cups (remember them?)

I've got to say that your taste in cookies is poor. Home made chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter bars, brownies etc hot out of the oven with cold milk just beats these all hands down.
especially when you get to lick the bowl they were mixed in too.

If you don't like Iced Vovo's, get out of my thread.... Go start your own thread if you want to be a ponce and wax lyrical about Hobnobs, Gollywogs, Timtams or why Arnott's chocolate chip cookies don't have hazelnuts in them now and hence taste lame compared to Marylands, be off with you. And, yes, Wagon Wheels are tiny now too, as if they thought no-one would notice.

Ha...!!! ChooChoo Bars. Now there's something I haven't heard for a looooong time.

Classic.

A bit of Vovo trivia....
The Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd(now Foreign Minister 8-} ), made a light hearted mention of Iced Vo Vo's in his election victory speech of 24 November 2007, jokingly urging his team to have a strong cup of tea with an Iced Vo Vo on the way through, before getting to work. This reportedly led to skyrocketing Iced VoVo sales, prompting Arnott's to send a shipping pallet of the biscuits to the Prime Minister's office in Canberra's New Parliament House.

More trivia.....

Because it’s also quite a small biscuit, it’s gone in several bites, leaving only the impression of something light, sweet and texturally pleasing. The description “sweet and interesting” is surprisingly apt! The VoVo is surprisingly moreish – while chatting over a cuppa, Highly recommended for both ladies and postgraduate silly sausages.

Interesting info about the Vo from a girl named Laura (Surname withheld) :

iced vovo's are my claim to fame. my great great grandmother actually invented them. she had a company called vetoy biscuits (her surname was tovey), and she made all sorts of yummy treats, inc the iced vovo. sadly the factory burnt down, and was bought out (recipes and all) by some richards & something company (pretty... sure that was the name) who then sold it on to arnotts. my uncle has the original recipe SOMEWHERE, he wont tell us haha, but yeah, its my tiny claim to fame. if there are any history buffs out there who could be bothered finding out the EXACT details, as mine are a lil sketchy (just stuff my mama has told me over the years, and from when i read all the original stuff/handover of business things at a family reunion & gathering once). so yay for iced vovo's huh? :)

Hi there,

In the YBTT era (years before Tim Tams)...the Iced VoVo was king !
Other contenders were Monte Carlo and Orange Slice ...but the VoVo's were very lickable !

So THAT'S what a vovo looks like!

I've been sneakin' 'em out of my kids bikky tin for months (yeah, bastard! I know) without knowing what you guys were talkin about and being too shit scared to ask...

The missus bins the plastic packet immediatly so how was i to know?

They sell Choo Choo bars at my local market - black tongues all round in our family :-)
