But it seems that you still need a pcie card so how is it native? I really want portability!!! HD on a laptop is what I would call HD-native... I guess its a step (though small) in the right direction.

I do have to agree with you Angus. I like HD alot too and dig my hd2/lynx/apogee setup.

From reading it the card is just a PCIe I/O allowing you to hook up your current (& future) HD boxes to it.... (+ yr controller)... biggest giveaway that it isnt a dsp card is there's no TDM support.

The number of available voices still scales down according to sample rate. It leads me to think that the mix engine itself is still DSP powered while plugin processing is entire native.

As for the HD Native Core card, it is responsible for the I/O throughput, low latency routing and the LLM feature, as well as sync and TC functions via Sync HD.
