i met an really old guy in a bush hut 500 kms from kalgoorlie in the western australian gold fields a few years ago

he had this to say about technology

" i came out to the gold fields as a boy and they promised us the new mail service would arrive and get posted every month and this new service would change our lives forever !

but life was still hard and the sun was still hot

and then that that new invention
the telegraph machine was supposed to change the world

but you know life was still pretty hard and the sun was still hot

then the wireless radio came along to make things easier
but it was still pretty hot around here in summer

i left autralia and went to 2nd war and that was pretty awful and i was pretty cold in europe, when i came back home all the buzz was about the new telephone service
but i thought it was still just as hot around here

we got the television sometime but later nothing changed too much either

then the superinformation highway came to town it is some kind of new technology that will change my whole world ..so they say

but the thing it is still 54 degrees around here in the height of summer
hottest place on earth in fact !"

then this 90 year old man looks me straight in the eye and says to me

if you want to get ahead in this life you have to invent the new technology
the guys that just buy it never end up any better off
boy you trust me on that one !

i just thought i would share that story :)[/i]

occasionally i come across musicians that are really really good.

they play well, sing well, record well and sometimes are even nice people.

doesnt matter which piece of gear i use or in what combination, it still ends up sounding better than most of my 'we'll fix it' patched up work (which is oh so common in post-production work i find myself doing)

theres my story from me, no hut, and not 500km away (but would have been heaps cooler if it was!! :)

The 4th Zen Master Ko, when answering any question, would simply raise the index finger of his right hand. A young novice, thinking to imitate his master, started to do the same. When this was reported to Master Zo, he said "I will examine that novice".

Finding the novice in a garden, Master Zo asked "What is the true path of Zen?" The novice raised the index finger of his right hand. More quickly than the eye could blink, Master Zo flashed out his sword and cut off the finger. The young novice retreated, howling in pain, but Zen Master Ko commanded him, "Halt". The novice raised his eyes to his master, whereupon Ko raised the index finger of his right hand. At that moment, the novice was enlightened.

And now, so are you.
