That is way ^&%$ed up, but seriously, would you buy that particular console and not fly there and watch it get packed and crated or even do it yourself?

I remember when the Neve console that was to go into Milk Bar arrived from overseas. I was very suprised to open the shipping container & find that the disassembled console was merely stretchwrapped & strapped down. I had to hang on to each section to steady it as the forklift unloaded it out of the container & then later loaded it on the back of a truck for delivery to the studio. And this was purchased through a gear broker, IIRC.

Oh man, I thought I had troubles.

Makes you wonder though, what were they thinking when they thought bubble wrap was going to cut it?!?

I don't even like to see synths packed like that let alone something crazy rare and expensive like that EMI.

its installed in their main room all mangled and looking sad
i doubt it was any kind of insurance thing

stuff happens - custom crates are cheap

i sent a neve 8028 to the usa last year
the crate makers made the crate in a day simple deal cost $1200 no brainer
this emi thing just looks careless to me

Shipping a frame with modules installed is really stupid IMHO. Each module should be separately wrapped and then loaded in groups into a crate or crates, and the frame can then be cross braced and crated. This makes the frame much easier to handle and move at each end.

She looks like she could do with a holiday. And that piano in the background music was driving me fruity. I hope that's not Alicia Keys playing all the way through.
I don't know about some the the room designs either - glass defuser on the back wall and glass directly to the left and right of the main speakers...the glass basically butts up against the main monitors???

But you have to love the way she is showing the EMI and talking it up without the slightest comment about how it is shaped like a pretzel and bit's are hangin off it everywhere. Doesn't even blink..

its not as though you can test the sound of a tg console out in that condition .
but you want what you want in life i guess

when the emi abbey road TG was installed in a megaphon here in sydney i had a share in the downstairs studio and i spent quite a bit of time upstairs on the TG
- outside the providence i really have no idea what all the fuss is about
but what a providence.

apparently that smashed TG EMI console went straight out the door from the emi factory to south america and stayed there until somebody scattered it on the floor in the states..

Yes, pretty well unthinkable.

Also, reading between the lines of that thread over on Prodigy (pg2 "The resulting reduction in purchase price paid for the refurb...") you'd have to conclude that there was no shipping insurance either. It's insane!
