Get this,
I Downloaded the Slate Digital FX somthingorother limiter etc, and think "yer it'll serve a purpose,
but not @ 250 buck er roos, So i do aquick serch and find some bloke on some gaming site selling his for half price after ilok transfer.. Sounds good so far.
But Slate have this crazy $30 transfer fee with i agree to pay half of ;-P
So the deal gets done, transfer goes through and bobs your uncle.. all's well that ends well.
But to day i got a nice surprise from Slate in the 'mail'.. A new ilok 2 key. Nice to get a little somethin for almost nothin. :D

SCORE! Nice one.

I know Slate just released their VCC (Virtual Console Collection), which apparently was massively delayed due to some piracy issues (not sure of the details) that basically meant they had to recode the plugin to work with an iLok2. Because it wouldn't run on an old iLok, and they'd accumulated so many Beta customers who'd already purchased the plug, Slate had a special deal where they'd give away an iLok2 with any VCC purchase to keep them happy.

Having said that, no idea how your FG-X license transfer got mixed up without a VCC order, but grats :D

VCC looks interesting though.. although it's a different model, it seems to work a bit like Heat for non-HD PT setups.. has a per channel control, but also a master control for overall saturation model and levels over your virtual desk. Anyone tried it?

Hi Jason,
Sorry to hear.. Have you done their help desk thingy? I've found they are same day response via that.

And yes, i am demoing the VCC plugs right now.. interesting. subtle. blah blah.
I hear it has more value as a multi track laying effect.. Not so much a mix bus effect. I agree..ish.
(sorry for being vague, i guess thats just because the effect from this plug is just that :-)

Man don't get me started on Slates VCC plug in. Sound good and all BUT:

I purchased around September last year and found the beta 2.5 didn't work on my Pro Tools V8 and was a problem many had. Put in a ticket and the response was a future update will fix this. The update was the official release on May 10 2011 (6 months later) which is yet to support Mac PPC (promised in another 30 days) so I have brought a plug in that for 7 months now still won't work.

Now fortunately I found a strange Beta 2.3.something version that was floating around and have been using it but it is really poor form when Slate are announcing release dates that are months off then using the anger many purchases are venting on forums to claim it as a much anticipated product.

I also own Trigger and FX-G and the quality is top notch but there method of customer relations is appalling.

Re: the free Ilok around November I think the VCC was cracked in ILok 1 so Slate pulled the beta program and waited till the official release that was exclusively Ilok 2. As a good will gesture seeing as most would have no other reason to buy the new Ilok all existing beta users got a free ilok 2 and for a limited time new purchases of the official release got a discounted Ilok.

Wow.
David, i must live in a hole or somthing, I guess having a 5 year old, doing a major building works,
working, training and trying to complete all tasks allocated to me by my wife, have made me a bit lax in my
"researchtheshitouttaitonlinebeforeibuy" skillz, because i hate to hear of vaporware promises (I'm with Vodafone :(
that get your cash then tell you to wait....

FWIW (why we cant just type "for what it's worth") the VCC just came in good use in a project i just finished ,
and did ad a little weight to the tracks in combo with my other toys.

Anyway, i'm sorry to hear of your situation..

It's all good they say. You have to wait 30 days at least for your ilok to get to you but it took us 10 days just to send it so you wont see it for a while yet.
