got a new 002 setup in a studio connected to a mackie d8b
we'd like to run the s/pdif into the digital input 2 on the desk and monitor off that when mixing to save another conversion stage
the 002 is supposed to mirror the output of the main outs (analog 1&2) through s/pdif..
we can't seem to get any signal from the 002 digital out, the recieving devices will detect a carrier signal (clock i assume?) but don't recieve audio...
anyone have any insights into this?

so was i, this 002 is brand new and i have a feeling they have changed something because from memory the +2year old 002 i used previously you had the choice....
theres no option to seperate them from what i can tell, either way i'm not getting any out from the s/dif outputs
on a side not we just (up?)graded from a 001 and it definately sounds different, can't tell exactly how yet as we're experiementing clocking it off different sources etc

The S/PDIF outs are seperate in the sense that you can have one signal going to the main outs, and a different signal going to the S/PDIF outs.
Have you tried changing the outputs on the channels to S/PDIF L-R? Getting any audio this way?
Click Setup->I/O, click on Output and click Default.
Then try setting all the channel outs to S/PDIF L-R.
I'm fairly sure that the S/PDIF outs won't simply mirror the main outs.

Are you using core audio with logic etc or pro tools.
If core audio there is a mirror switch button.
Otherwise in Pro Tools they are seperate in the IO.
1-2 analog and 17-18 SPDIF.
If you want to use them both on a track then something like cntrl/alt or something like that you will get a "+" sign and have dual outs.
I redid my I-O when I got the Mytek and made Spdif out LR and left the rest 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc out to the Trident. Good luck. Your also going to have to change the audiotion paths if you want this teh main out.
