just wondering if people had any information on them, he is thinking of selling it

Cheers Simon

I have one that I got from a local radio station. I paid $30 for it. Its OK, but the modern ribbon mics, like the AEAs and even the Chinese cheapies are noticeably better.

Probably the one for sale on the Aussie Gearhead forum for $1200.

I have a pair of these mics. I use them as room
Mics generally. They sound great. Although I do think
That a modern chinese style ribbon mic is just as good
If not better. Probably cheaper these days also. But the SSS
Mics look amazing.

Some time ago the Adelaide AES had a mic night and the photos, http://leonaudio.biz/AES/May-16-2006/photos/ include one of me, looking somewhat perplexed, with my Steanes R47.

There are some other photos here http://leonaudio.biz/AES/May-16-2006/mi ... d%20to.pdf

Just as an aside, Bill Armstrong, of Armstrong Studios etc, started his audio career at Steanes Sound Systems in Melbourne.
