Lyrics.....or swearing within.

I've been listening to some recordings of a band's rehearsal and one thing that stood out (well there were a couple of things), was the number of time the singer/"lyricist" had included the word "F-U-C-K". Over about 10 songs, there were at least 11 "F-U-C-Ks" to be heard.
I was just curious as to what the general consensus of opinion is regarding how acceptable this habit is in music, particularly music that could be equated to modern Aussie "pub rock".

it used to be a sure fire way to get played on jjj, all you had to do was swear in a new way
it doesnt seem work any more
nobody laughs at the use of profanities anymore its way to common
every single track we do that has a swear word , seems to come in with a version "minus" the swearword, so from my point of view
why bother
either you want to swear or you dont
so to sum my thoughts up , if they are going to do a with swearing without swearing version, dont bother swearing .
or if you do
both bring them to me to master because it takes twice as long and i can charge twice as much :)

I recently bought the new Angels and Airwaves album and was surprised to notice I could buy a "clean" version or a version with "explicit lyrics". I reckon if you're making a non-swearing version so you won't offend anybody then you're a wuss anyway and are only swearing to be cool (or so you think) instead of actually having something burning so strongly inside you that the only word that will suffice is that little F word. (see Lars in metallica's "some kind of monster" for how that F word should be delivered.)

i've always thought swearing is simply the what you do when you lack the vocabulary to adequitely express yourself.
not that i'm afraid of swearing. some hip hop jobs i've done are explicit - usually totally macho and boring.
i think the dirtiest job i've done was an "alien sex-funk opera" which made me blush a couple of times. but it was so cool and funny, it worked.
i reckon, if the talent is going to swear, at least make it interesting and inventive.
god-damn nancy little crack-whore!!!

Australia as a nation swears a lot. I agree that if you put out a non-swearing version of a song then perhaps the swearing wasn't really required in the first place.

I'm far more offended that a child dies every 2 seconds or so from malnutrition or tainted drinking water than any use of the F*CK word.
Or, try reading Les Murray's The Last Hellos (the poet, not the football commentator).
Geez, the older I get tha more I sound like Bono

Maybe the guy has tourettes syndrome or something. Most people I know won't buy a record unless it has a parental advisary warning. Dunno why. As Rick said you either want to swear or you don't. I've been recording so much rap and hip hop lately, well you get the picture.

Memorable Quotes from
"The Simpsons"
Krusty Gets Kancelled (1993)
[the Red Hot Chili Peppers are performing on Krusty's show]
Krusty the Clown: Now, boys, the network has a problem with some of your lyrics. Do you mind changing them for the show?
Anthony Kiedis: Forget you, clown.
Chad Smith: Yeah, our lyrics are like our children, man. No way.
Krusty the Clown: Well, okay, but here where it says, "What I got you gotta get and put it in ya," how about just, "What I'd like is I'd like to hug and kiss ya."
Flea: Wow. That's much better.
