RIP Josie Jason

Postby Chinagraf » Thu Jun 16, 2011 10:07 am

Adding to the list of bummers for this year, Josie passed away yesterday after a year or so of battling cancer.
Josie was an unbelievable rock guitarist who'd been part of the Melbourne scene since the early eighties. She played with a lot of bands and artists including The Dirty Rats, Jimi the Human, Angry Anderson, but was best known for her own band Josie Jason and the Argonauts. In recent years she's been playing in an all girl 70's rock covers band called Mother that were awesome.
I recorded the Dirty Rats when I was a junior at Metropolis. It was one of my first engineering gigs and I thought Josie was a girlfriend of the band till she asked me where to put her amp. Then she plugged in and played and jaws hit the floor. I don't know exactly but I think she was around mid forties, way too young.
Rock on Josie. \m/
