Studio re-wire and New Gear added @ Pony Music.

Postby OzDrum » Fri Jun 17, 2011 7:40 pm

We at Pony Music have just spent the last 2 weeks in a state of "soldering, racking, cleaning, wiring and testing" and have just finished re-wiring our studio - adding a bunch of new gear, new racks and patch bays etc.. Was a masive task, Damien and Troy spent a lot of time mapping out everything to make sure it was all wired correctly and giving us the easiest workflow during sessions..

Some toys are off at the doctors (Rob @ Proharmonic) being re-habilitated including a second UA SOLO110 and a ROLA77 (the big brother to our BYER66) which will go in the tall upright rack once they are back. We also have a bunch of Auditronics channel strips we are thinking of racking into a rack of 8 at sometime in the near future.

We've added some nice "old school" FX units too to compliment our EMT 140 Plate and all of our software plugins. Our NEVE 542 Summing Console is also now wired in permanently and it really adds the "glue" to mixes.

Pony Music has recently recorded albums for Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors) which was recently released to great reviews, State of East London's album spent some time in the Top10 iTunes Metal charts while NeObliviscaris's album is currently getting mixed by Genz Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia etc) and will be released shortly. Coming up we have sessions booked with Leo Sayer and The Aura Cura amongst others.

A special THANKS to Troy McCosker for his efforts to get the studio all up and running over the past two weeks!! Great Job!!

sorry, they were sized to be a reasonable size in a forum post - but this forum doesn't let you post linked photos within the thread like most others do..

Thanks all,
I have uploaded larger versions of the photos - now in the original post as per requests.
These photos were literally taken 30 seconds after the final cleanup after the re-wire.. these were taken with no flash and in my hand so with such a slow shutter speed due to the low light they aren't that clear - plus I am no photographer!
We are booked fairly solid from tomorrow onwards now but I'll try to get some updated photos asap using a tripod and some better lighting :)
Cheers
Geoff

Some more MOJO just added to our studio...

Chord SPA 1032 and SPA1232 Power Amplifiers to run our main custom made Studio Monitors.

These exact amps are straight out of Mayfair Studios in the UK http://www.mayfair-studios.co.uk/
and purchased from our friend John Hudson who has had a string of hits and grammy awards over the years.

http://www.chordelectronics.co.uk/produ ... o.asp?id=9

These are replacing our old Yamaha P2250 amplifiers which will now be concentrating on headphones.
