Hey Rick

Is there somewhere on the forum where we can upload and store files... schematics, plans, etc so that they are available at any time for the members?

If storage is a problem maybe you could setup a gmail account like the Prodigy guys have done.

Just a thought.

Greg

PS: If there is something already setup can you give me directions to it.

Hi Greg, haven't got it set up yet, but I have a plan to set up an FTP server for Schematics and manuals, same idea as the BAMA site but for pro audio gear. I've currently got about 80Gig of manuals and schematics in PDF/JPG/GIF.
I sort of have the same idea as you probably do and think it's better to share the knowledge than to hold on and guard it like the crown jewels.
Now I just need to pull my finger out and finish it.

I like the way Studer, Orban, Ampex etc now put scans of all their old manuals up on ftp, very simple, but useful.
cheers
Alastair

if you guys can figure it out you can certainly link it here
but there isnt a hassle free way for me to store big amounts of photos without
having to change the forum and its cost structure
... there are no adds around here to pay for that !

Yeah Rick,
1: I wasn't expecting you to fund it.
2: We don't want advertising.
3: Doesn't actually have to be part of the Turtlerock forum.

Alastair sounds like he's onto it, just a site to upload and store stuff on.

That way everyone can post their schematics, plans, photos, etc, and if we want to discuss a circuit mod or studio plans then we can just download the file and we're all reading off the same page.

It could be as easy as setting up a Hotmail account and then PM the the password to all Turtlerockers. Then we just email that account with whatever it is we want to store as an attachment. When you want to look at something you sign in, search the email subject, which would be the name of the schematic, then download it.

Anyhow at least we're discussing... that's a start

Greg

ahh, you might want to look at setting up a scribd.com account. I'm pretty sure its free and its designed for publishing documents. Has its own special document reader built into the browser. probably a hand in glove fit for this purpose.

edit: you can upload pdf, ms word or ms powerpoint to it. is free.
