interesting - although i reckon the sound doesn't match the picture. sync issues aside, what the bass player is playing doesn't match.

i do wonder what an altec sounds like on a vocal - maybe i should try it out? they were marketed as a discreet vocal performance mic, fair call when RCA's and 47's are so obstructive.

I was thinking how well it captured the vocal considering how far away she is holding it most of the time.
Is it a dynamic or a condenser ?

Tube condenser

well regarded mic - but I've not seen one in the flesh.

On reputation these have been on my buy list for a while but have never seen one come up at a reasonable price.

I also have one. The hardest two pieces to find are the original psu and the mic couplings in particular. the mics themselves are quite common. Regards Norm

OK, but what is the mic that is on a stand down stage centre (and most likely the only mic picking up the rhythm section)?

Hi Al

I'm guessing some kind of ribbon as it it's doing excellent job of picking up the bottom end of that bass.

Whatever it is it just goes to show that with the right placement and the the right players you can pull a good sound with just one mic. Certainly wouldn't have any phasing problems!

Hey is Al Black still around?
