Happy to say I have just arrived in London to have one of my songs recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra in Studio One at Abbey Road over the next few weeks. Same room they did Elgar's Land of Hope & Glory, Star Wars Main Title Themes, Beatles A Day in The Life......will be fantastic to soak up the recording history in that room!

Awesome news Steve.
What a great experience having your song tracked by the LSO in that room.
I wanted to say that I've been in that room (and studio 2 across the hall) and it feels like every bit of a special occassion...and you can smell the history.
Now, go out and grab a bunch of fake rubber noses and some party hats and make sure each member of the orchestra has them on during the session. Balloons for everyone!
Let us know how it all goes.
cheers
Ben

LOL Ben. It was timely as I am reading Geoff Emerick's "My Life Recording The Beatles" and his recollection of that session (Day in The Life) is just where I'm up to!

Great stuff Steve, hope it's all going well.
So when do we get to hear it? Would love to hear your thoughts on their arrangement of your composition

... 62-piece choir came in for o'dubs once the LSO vacated. Couldn't believe how nice just the room sounded..... The track will be released to coincide with Abbey Road's 80th Birthday (Nov. 13th I think is the date). It is amongst the 8 new anthems chosen to commemorate the milestone. Oh, and they gave me a goodies bag too but strangely it was devoid of vintage neumanns....

.....and now I know why I couldn't hire a room at Abbey Road last week and this week.

Steve an Abbey Rd goodies bag without vintage neumanns is like a show bag without candy. What were they thinking?
Love that room.
Congratulations are most definitely in order.
Cheers

Thanks Ben/Angus, at least 5 of them were powering M50s (an M50 decca tree is truly a thing of beauty!) Headman, they're so busy in there at the moment that they're hiring in mac pros right and centre to cope with the demand, a lot of film projects on the go, and about to start in on "The Hobbit" soundtrack I believe....
