Hey guys,

So have you ever ran into a piece of equipment you need, or are making do with, but hate looking at?

I picked up this Creamware converter which has been great to use, but it's the most awful piece of equipment I've ever had to look at. Ugly horrible green colour, weird @ symbol, etc etc it's clash city. It would look better covered in gaffa...

Has anyone ever come up with a creative solution for something like this? I don't really want to just hide it away because I like having the meters.

i just try and worry about important things:)
and then when i cant i have been known to spray paint , contact paper and generally deface stuff i hate the look of

That brown wood grain contact looks good on anything.

careful blow torching can do the job sometimes - to get the dripping effect,
or leave paint remover on for a week or so ....
sandblasting?
or tie it to the back of the car and drive around the block a few times..

Well obviously if it looks bad, it sounds even worse. Give it to the salvos.

I've got a Joe Meek SixQ that has been severely beaten with an ugly stick. Plus it sounds like utter crap on everything except direct bass, where (for no good reason I can provide) it sounds extremely good.

I can't get rid of it because I find myself reaching for it whenever a bass line is needed. But I am yet to figure out where to permanently locate it, as wherever I put it, it ends up annoying me.

chuck some marconi knobs on it and you're in business

Glue some shag pile carpet to the front panel..........

You could grab a single 1U front panel in black. Line up and drill out some holes for the metering and screw it into the rack over the top of the current faceplate.

or add some leopard skin material and blend with the shag and you got yerself a DISCO.

a nice little string of christmas lights may help (after adding the leopard skin of course)

Cliff electronics sell a 1 ru blank, security panel, with perforated holes in it that protrudes several centremetres to allow for knobs etc could be a winner if you really care that much? that or airbrush art

take the front plate off an hit it with some spray paint..
or get something even uglier so you forget how ugly this one is...
