How did this happen?

I have found a reference on the net to a small print run CD I did of my own music in 98 for the Frankston Guitar festival. It was never sold commercially, just private sales at gigs etc.
I am wondering how it has appeared on the these web pages:
http://www.cylist.com/List/405263883/
http://www.cdtracks.org/album_chris_hal ... 70262.html
http://dogx.us/797662-Chris-Hallam-Home ... yrics.html
http://www.music-db.org/misc/55096007.html

It's even available for download at the last address! WTF?
I have obviously heard of this happening but didn't think it would to such an insignificant limited issue CD.

I do believe it works by a process they call magic

Alternatively i would presume somebody sold or somehow gave your short run cd to a 2 nd hand
Record dealer who listed it in their online inventory

Then some busy people in india or china or wagga wagga
Did some cut and paste content sharing

It gives me the shits , there is a nice guy named rick pier oneil
I always presumed although i could be wrong
That he needed to call him self rick pier oneil back in the eighties because
He needed a point of difference from me ( my middle name is patrick btw )
Any way he is now an active dance dj artist
Those interweb spiders find and link credits and sound files on the song lists
85 % or more of his online listed credits are in fact mine
His lists are pages longer then mine as well but they are mostly my records
Nothing to be done the list makers are out of control
Even when they are wrong
Its going to make for interesting history lessons though :)

answer: the internet happened.

if you think that's bad, some electronic music gets bootlegged to youtube before it's even pressed and released...by bigger names too!

Then there are the Bollywood composers, who will take someone's music, claim they wrote it and win awards from MTV Asia.

Here's one of many examples:
"Eireann" by Afro Celt Sound System from the 1999 album 'Release'

"Kambakht Ishq" allegedly by Sandeep Chowta, from the 2001 movie, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya

That's ok, a mate of mine is recieving royalties from an Indian artist, f-ing jerk hacked thier myspace site so we'll just call it ummmmm compo for now. I reckon my mates should be actively promoting it t get more sales.
