Yo Guys,

Does anyone in Sydney have these guys lying around that they would lend out for a day??

I just wanted to play around with them to hear on my vox alongside some other mics!

there are a few c37 around , phil punch has a drawer full
but outside the first run of c-800g that floated around as demo units when they were new i have never seen a sydney owner of a c800 - but in the ebay world who knows ..?

I wonder if Phil's are P's or A's .....

I've never seen an 800 here either.You never never know who lurks around the Turtlerock traps though.

I think his mics come and visit me in my dreams.They told me they're killing for affection & to flirt with a mic stand again!

you know even after he paid a gillian for them , i never saw the pair set up as a pair
i thought they looked cheap nasty and junky
i made a listening decision with my eyes figuring i could test them any old time
..wrong

that said outside the initial " look what i just bought" , phil never raved about them again

I have a C37A which I love.
It has a natural compression to it, which tames a nasal voice like mine.
It doesn't have the high end sizzle of modern mics, but in fact is quite natural.
Some people may find this a bit dull in a busy mix, but a bit of a boost with ex-Rick's Pultec fixes that for me.
I'm a little bit wary of lending it out as the last time I did, it came back broke. I think it was just bad timing rather than any mishandling. Turned out it was just the tube. I have since replaced it with a nice NOS Mullard.

So I presume in the past year no-one in Sydney acquired a C800G?

I'm very curious, but not too keen to plonk $10K without hearing one first...

I love my c38b's. Same capsule as the c37, but a fet amp.
I prefer it to pretty much every LDC I have heard. Mind you I haven't used a C37a... They are also still reasonably priced and available new.
