Having used electrical tape to join guitar cables together side-by-side to make stereo pairs for so many years for live shows I would like to find an alternative way to do it as the electrical tape eventually turns to sticky mush. Cable ties I avoid as they tear up your hands and catch on things. Has anyone found a tape to hold small looms together that doesn't have the disadvantages of electrical tape?

I like that.

I have done the large heatshrink to bundle cables and can say that it works quite well. Every 30-40cm, closer if it's for a pedal board run.

I did looms for my duo, that were just velcro...they worked fine for that...

I have used this to good affect.

At each end of the loom I secure it with a cable tie, fold the excess sleeving back over the cable tie then cover it in heatshrink.

If you want to use cable ties then use them backwards. In other words, put them on upside down, then thread the end through towards the loom, not away from it as normal. Poke the end through the loom and chop it off inside the loom. You then get a smooth plastic circle around the loom with no sticky out bits to chip you hands on.

As an alternative, you could use plastic spiral wrap, but I don't think it would stay on too long.

I like expandable-braid sleeving best. Secure at each end with a cable tie or glue-heatshrink. It's not the cheapest, but you can re-use it or add more cables later...

I use the stuff you get from auto spares shops (e.g. supercheap) - there are 2 types - split tube and coily stuff. Both work really well.

I use some of the split stuff in my guitar rig, had three leads in it for a couple of years no problems.
