Can anyone recommend a good idock, digital radio, cd player, speaker system?
I'm looking for an all in one system. Would need to be suitable for a large (10m x 6m) living room.
I'd like to spend under $1K but obviously would like something of quality and with lots of grunt.
Anyone using something with all of the things listed above that they like the sound of??
Any links and recommendations are much appreciated.
Many thanks

I don't think such a thing exists!

Yeah, I didn't like to say.
Half decent speakers, especially for a largish room are going to be $500+.
About four years ago I bought mid-level Denon amp and CD player, plus Dynaudio speakers and the bill was $4500.
You could price something classic, reconditioned:

I bought my daughter a JVC micro system for around $1000 a while ago. Sounded very good for the price, much better than anything else we checked out in the same sort of price range.
It didn't have digital radio, but it was a few years back, maybe newer models do?

iphone 5 will likely not have the 30 pin connector, so i'd steer away from a new dock with the 30 pin integrated.

^ lack of compatibility in new designs is grinding my goat, f*ck these companies...seriously. the most ridiculous environmentally careless business practise.... there should be some law...
ok, i'll stop now ...
Ben i'd highly recommend an older hi fi system, people get rid of old systems all the time, and they're gonna sound better than modern hi fi poop.
Look for rotel, denon, marantz, onkyo...i've been using the same JBL TLX16 speakers, and Onkyo (seperate amp, cd) for 15 years (since my bloody dad bought fir me in the 90s )!!!!
EDIT: i cant read...u did want an i-dock.

The Bose Wave Music System is worth a try. They are available with a 90 Day risk free home trial.
You could check them out and see if they have enough grunt.
I see your room is fairly large but it really might do the job.
I heard one of these in NZ on holidays a few years ago in a huge living room with lots of noisy living going on and was impressed.
I bought one for home use.
I have Tannoys (Ardens), Dynaudios and Spendor and they translate well to the Bose.
http://worldwide.bose.com/axa/en_au/web/wave_systems/page.htmlI know people either love or hate some of this stuff but quite a few people who have heard mine have said they'll get the same eventually.
Cheers,
Pete Bird

Tivoli clock radio. Sounds incredible for a clock radio with a 3 inch speaker ...

I have a little Tivoli set up in our kitchen.
It definitely looks good.
On the old hi-fi suggestion, I'm still using a Rotel amp from the late 80's in my studio. Sounds great!

An old hi-fi is not all in one, nor will it have a digital tuner or iphone dock.

Well it's not like this thread is bursting with great ideas for under $1000.

I had never seen those tivoli radios before....very cool.
I think I know what the missus will get for her birthday this year....
I saw a video on you tube...even on that the sound was kinda nice... I think she will love the simplicity of it.
