hi all,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a tech, specifically a Neve tech, who'd be capable of converting an ailing VR into a 24ish channel tracking/summing solution? Basically keeping 2 buckets and the centre section and recapping the best of the existing channels.

If so...please make your recommendations! I appreciate it might be a crazy daft idea, and financially impractical...but I'd like to know for certain (it's not MY crazy daft idea!).

well check the technicians part of the forum but that sounds like a serious job.
Rob Squire would be my first port of call and if he wasn't available he would be a good source of advice.
You're going to want good advice before you proceed.

Console is in Sydney...and yes it's likely to be a big job!

yes, it is a big job!
I know the Neve VR series well ... lots and lots of capacitors in those and if it hasn't been recapped it will seriously need it. They also suck a lot of power and so you'd need one original powersupply unit to run two buckets and a master section. It is certainly do-able, shoot me an email for the fine print!
