Software that does gradual tempo change?

Anyone know of the best way to get a set of multitracked drumloops/samples to increase in tempo gradually over a period of time - without pitch changing?
looking for a protools type way out - rather than getting another platform.
Pitch n time?
any ideas?

Slice all your drum audio at transients? Which means all the hits will become decoupled and stay on the grid as the tempo shifts?

Recycle?
Which chops the loops into small hits for you.

This is how a plug-in like Stylus works. You can play a loop at any tempo because all the loops have been transformed (by recycle) into tiny bits, one bit per loop component.

Hire me. I speed up over time quite naturally - no fuss.

As Chris said, you need a beat slicer - Avid make a Pro Tools specific one called Transfuser.

Cubase and other tools come with this as standard functionality. Alternatively, buy Recycle (which can be used with any platform).

OK - I was thinking of consolidating all of the loops to be the correct total length - and then processing the whole file with a tempo increase over time?

ignore my last post..pointless if you wanna stick to PT....one thing...wondering if you use beat detective in PT to cut stuff...it should stick to the tempo map, if you have cut and crossfaded literally every transient...no?

Well you can do this with a tool like Elastic Audio but IMO it just never sounds quite right - the pitch shifting always alters the fundamental character of the sound. (FWIW, Elastic Audio can allegedly handle tempo changes as well, though I've never tried it). Hence I'd still recommend beat slicing.

The Digi Transfuser looks like it could be good - does some other interesting stuff too.

I switched to Ableton Live nearly a year ago, and this kind of thing is easy-peasy.
I've always resisted buying Recycle, although it is a useful tool.
If You have Spectrasonic Stylus, you can drop your REX loops into it and do all kinds of extra processing.

Elastic audio? I don't know about PT, but I gave up using it in Logic due the the terrible, and very audible artefacts.

I use flex time in Logic, I use it in Slicing mode, and dont really have any problems, there are ways to do it ...

You can use elastic audio without altering the pitch, however it will affect the length of the samples. e.g. a faster tempo on a snare track will result in a shorter sample. Make sure the conductor track is enabled, enable elastic audio in the desired mode on the appropriate tracks (e.g. polyphonic), change those tracks from sample base to tick base then expand the tempo bar, set the density to the desired resolution and draw in a tempo map with the pencil tool. Sorry if I've missed anything, I haven't done this much. Not recommending it either - I'll leave it up to you to try & see if you like it or not.

+1 on Ableton Live, it excels at this kind of thing - you can great results if you take your time setting up the warp parameters. Running alongside PT via Rewire of course.
