trolled around for hours trying to find the answer, no luck, made specifically for the surveillance industry ,is this hard drive suitable for Audio? my gut feeling tells me it would be stellar, but there has to b a reason why they r not recommended ,i dont get it?

Product Description
An enterprise-class internal hard drive, this Western Digital 1 TB hard drive combines a 32 MB cache and a SATA interface with a transfer rate of 3 GBps to deliver fast processing and high-performance in high-stress environments. The Western Digital RE3 features dual-processor technology that delivers a sizable performance increase over previous iterations of this internal hard drive. Furthermore, Rotary Acceleration Feed Forwarding technology allows this Western Digital 1 TB hard drive to maintain stability and perform well in high-vibration environments. The chance of a drive fallout on this Western Digital 1 TB hard drive is significantly reduced by the time-limited error recovery (TLER) technology on the Western Digital RE3, which reduces processing time during error recovery. This Western Digital 1 TB hard drive has also been subjected to thermal extended burn-in testing, helping to ensure it continues to operate under high-temperature, always-on conditions.

It would be fine. It certainly meets AVID's standards.

A lot of people I know in the UK are using Avastor:
http://www.avastor.com/

They've never been available in Australia.
I contacted them a couple of years ago and asked if they would distribute to Australia, but they said they couldn't persuade anyone to stock them over here.
