Lynx Aurora Install Question

Hi All,

I wonder if there are any Lynx Aurora owners out there who can cast their eye over this situation.

I recently purchases a Lynx Aurora 16 with USB that came through the mail.

After installing the drivers etc The Aurora software is saying it can't see the device

The from panel on the unit is in a fixed state. I.e - The Analogue Out button has Analogue In, Aes In and LSlot in all lit and pressing it doesn't change anything.
The Sample Rate is set at 176.4 and pressing it doesn't change anything and the sync source is set on Int with a flashing EXT light, pressing the button doesn't change anything.

The Meter button switches when I click it.

Any idea out there?
Anyone know where to get Aurora's looked at if they need repair in Australia?

Thank for any help.

Vic

I think Turramurra distro for them. They wont look at your repair, even if you throw them money if the part doesnt have a Serial sold in Australia...ie. american ebay purchases, and shit...u cant get fixed -_-

Thanks Jamil,

It was an Ebay purchase but from Australia.

The power supplies aren't switchable on these, so the US ones ONLY have 110. This is 230 so I'm quite sure it was originally bought here.

Vic,

I cannot recommend enough to get over to the Lynx support forum.
They take each support case on individually and you are in direct contact with the directors and founders of the company:

I experienced something very similar recently when I got a new, longer USB cable. Switch out the USB cable for a known working cable just to make sure.

For what it's worth a lot of the front panel controls are disabled when it's connected via USB/Firewire, as they are all controllable from the software. It seems like a pain, but actually the software is controllable by your DAW, so it means that sample rates etc get switched automatically, which is great.

If you want to see if the front panel controls work, boot it up without the USB cable plugged in.

I was using FW for a year or so, now I'm on ADAT card, but I remember being able to change Aurora's settings on the front panel when I was connected to the FW.
Maybe it's locked up and needs a hard reboot (somehow)?

You could change the sample rate? Lynx told me that wasn't possible when plugged into the computer- maybe it's changed with newer firmware.

The hard reset procedure is:

1. Power down the Aurora
2. Pull the AC power cable
3. Press and hold the Sample Rate button while plugging the unit back in.
4. Wait about 2 seconds, release the Sample Rate button
5. Power up the Aurora with the front panel switch.

Hi

Alistair, No I haven't been able to change the sample rate from the front panel.
Nathan, Your description of the hard reset procedure is a bit different to the procedure in the manual. and YOUR PROCEDURE WORKED. You should re-write the lynx Manual

Seems to be fine now, the firmware update activated and I am now able to load the Lynx software (which wouldn't work before). I am playing back a session and it is reading on the meters on the aurora. So all seems fine, I will take it out and install it in the studio proper, tomorrow and put it through ti's paces, but here it all seems to be good.

Thanks so much everyone, I had this unit posted by registered post as I was going away to Sydney for a week and when I returned it was sitting outside, balancing precariously on the letterbox, on a 43 degree day and it could have been there for a few days, so the "Registered Post" bit, the "recipient must sign" bit, didn't really mean anything :-)

So, I was really nervous something happened to it out there.

But all good, thanks a million everyone, much appreciated.

Vic

IIRC, yes.
Not when I had a DAW open though. And I usually selected my sample rate in the DAW, which automatically changed Aurora.
But I definitely remember changing several parameters using the controls on the front of Aurora. In fact I hardly ever looked at the Aurora software.
