HI All.
Whats the hot tip for a new mouse? I'm sick of mighty mouse. Not sure I could do the trackball thing but opinions welcome. Anyone found anything they just couldn't live without? Do gamers have the right idea with a billion buttons and customised weighting? Wireless would be good.

I have trackball with ball on the thumb, 3 finger buttons, scroll wheel, and it also had 2 skinny buttons next to the ball for your thumb that I never use, but the ball and finger buttons/scroll is a great combo. Hold you finger down on a clip and spin the track ball with your thumb etc, can't remember the brand. Also good because after you master it other people try to do a quick edit on your system and look like idiots because they can't use it, hence making you look very talented. Also good because you only need space for the unit, no other desk space.

I've got a kensington trackball too- about a 48 hour learning curve, but they rock. As mentioned, they will fix all wrist pain that normal mice give you.
Extra buttons are great- I allocate them to up and down/side to side scrolling in the DAW which saves a lot of time.
Don't go wireless- they aren't as accurate and often have a little lag (at least the ones I tested)

Took the new mac Magic Mouse and three it at the wall 2 mins after
I plugged the track ball in !

I found the large Kensington trackball unwieldy. Some of the smaller ones seem OK. But perhaps someone can tell me: are there any trackballs which provide a facility for horizontal scrolling? I've not come across one.

At work we got Mac Pros with wireless mice (Magic mouse). You can imagine how long they'd last in a classroom, so I snaffled one. Move it like a normal mouse and use trackpad-like gestures for scrolling. Nice enough!

Was starting to think I was the only one still using a mouse.
Maybe I need to spend some time with a trackball. When I have used one it felt very odd. I like the idea of the mouse with the thumb track ball.

Ive been thinking of getting another Kensington Expert trackball - as my last one died a few years ago - and I'm sick of my mouse again, and RSI

Has anyone used the Kensington Slimblade Trackball ?
- if so, are they better to use than the standard (taller) Kensington Expert trackball?

Yup - same Kensington trackball - only problem is you need to clean the ball contacts every now and then.

For Mac the large trackpad is good - I use it as a remote control whilst sitting behind the kit.

I used one of these on the weekend, albiet not with a DAW but I felt you could really kick some goals here..

It was very sensitive (pressure sensitive too) and had hotkeys on the side which you could assign to anything.

Track balls all the way!
I have a cheap Logitek trackball at my studio and a mouse at work. I hate the mouse.
Trackballs are fast and relieve strain, and they can go anywhere you like. Such as on a mixing console.
I wouldn't bother going wireless.
The logitek has being going fine for about 5 years, it's easy to clean too.
