For the brain experts in the room - is there a set number of these kinds of opinions/counter-opinions/comments/observations/criticisms one can read before one's head explodes? All I get from Gearslutz these days is a shocking case of "decision paralysis", which is a shame because I'm usually very good at making bad decisions quickly :)

I have used Fairlight a little bit.
Back in the early days there was a platform made by DSP (who I think later merged with Fairlight). That was a killer system, but the company went under.
Lately it's been a Fairlight Prodigy. Not sure how they sit in the music production world but in Post Production for TV and Film, Fairlight and Euphonix are king. Check out Stellar Sound in Glebe. They have THX certified mixing rooms with Fairlight systems at the heart. They're rock solid and very powerful.
If Fairlight can bridge the gap bewteen where they are positioned now and the Tools/Logic/Nuendo crowd then this will be a force to be reckoned with. You've got to respect a bunch of guys who believe in their work so much that after their company went bust (again) they got together and bought it back (well, the technology parts anyway).
