I'm after the German equivalent of "saturation" as in what happens to a tube amp turned all the way up.

Best I can do with high school German is "trankung", but that's not so much a technical term.

Also, any hints for what Germans call a High-Z input - I'm tempted to just go with Hoch-Z, but is "HoZ" used as an abbreviation? Save the innuendo jokes.

The german words spat out of a few translation programs for "saturation" was:

'Sättigung'

Maybe Ubersteuerungs?

Verstärkungssättigung.
Try fitting that into a lyric.

Sorry, my german goes as far as "Wir fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der Autobahn".....

Thanks Linear Chris - I did think of overdrive as an alternative and any term starting with Über has to be good, right?

I think Verstärkungssättigung translates as 'amplifier saturation' - ya?
