Vintage eq

Postby chris p » Wed Nov 15, 2006 9:31 am

Having snared one of the AWA discrete preamps (now there's a good Christmas present from an understanding wife), the intent is to rack it with a nice vintage eq. Vintage King have some Telefunken W695s, while Vintage Audio in Germany have the Tele W395s as well as some Neumann units.

If there is still room left in the box, I'll maybe add in a gate/limiter as well, but that's secondary.

The concept is to have a really nice vocals chain - other things will get a run as needed, but its really the vocals I want to shine.

Does anyone have any experience / suggestions? Does anyone have an old EQ sitting in their garage / under their house gathering dust?

Chris,

how adventurous are you feeling?

I have sh!tloads of unpopulated eq boards for my AWA. I even have some spare faceplates, knobs, switches etc.

I have a spare EQ only module too that you could always borrow to reference if you wanted to make a fully-fledged AWA channel pre/eq.

It wouldn't be easy, but it's doable. It's even something Rob and I talked about.

PM me if you're keen.
