I went and saw them last night, was awesome, every time I see Steve Vai play I'm just left in awe of that guys guitar skills. Seemed like he was even holding way back compared to the Selina's shows he did and with Billy Sheehan on Bass, farout was great.

Then Joe Satriani, wow, he is so damn precise, I've never liked the sound on his studio albums but live totally different story, I'd never seen him live before and it was amazing to see the master at work, he makes it look like a child could do it, effortlessly and wayyy to cool. Was damn loud too, ahhh glad my mate gave me a whole shopping bag full of heavy duty earplugs a while back.

John Petrucci the first guitarist was great too, though his style is not as interesting as the other 2. He is definately worth seeing, coming back next year with his band DreamTheatre. I just wish Eric Johnson came as well.

Had a migraine too before I left to go there, geeeeeez I hate that. Though was an interesting experience standing there zoned out on panadeine frorte's and feeling wobbly with the headache, was kind of surreal.

You are 100% right.....it sounds sooooo awesome live....its such a shame Satch recorded alot of his stuff in the 80s...not the greatest engineering for his awesome early stuff... :(

It was a great concert, one of the best we'll see in Sydney for a while !

Yeah his early stuff sounded a little thin, though Steve Vai has a lot better production skills I think as he does most of it himself in that awesome looking studio he has "The Mothership". I've just always prefered steves studio recording sound, much fuller with a huge selection of awesome guitar sounds.
Though live Satch was incredible and I guess thats what it's all about.

I saw Eric Johnson a few years back in sydney at city live. It was packed out and I even saw Ian Moss sneak in just before it started. As much as I love Eric's playing and tones, I will never go see him live again. There's a good reason he has serious tinitus.... he's just too loud. I was in pain at various times of the show and the on stage level often overpowered the foh system. I would hate to have to mix a gig like that. No chance of winning.

I remember the Eric Johnson gig, I had the industrial earplugs that time too. He stumbled off stage halfway through the set and came back on all wobbly and started hitting clangers, I left unimpressed also, though I think he looked really sick and pale, could've drank some Sydney water, maybe.
