what software is around that burns cd's on a mac and lets me change the level of each track?

i want to burn mixes and make each track roughly the same level (not mastering, not plugins/comp etc)....just a quick balance

does toast/jam do this (toast doesnt)..

i have read about waveburner (now dead or bundled with logic)
and bias peak. but both cost more than my need..

is there another way....on OS9 or X...

i can do this on a pc with software i already have, but dont really want to add another computer to the control room unless i have to.

Jam will do it for you.

Waveburner works well.

does toast do it? i cant find where (i have toast, not jam)

how/where do i get Waveburner from? i dont have logic (i believe its bundeled) and i cant find anywhere to buy it........waveburner not logic..

Almost all cd burning software can normalise peak levels, I don't know of any that use loudness rather than peak volume.

wavgain psycho-acoustically analyzes them so they have the same perceived loudness, not peak values.

News to me. What version? I'm using Toast Titanium 7.0.1 and can't find any gain adjustment . I have never found it in toast, but it's in Jam along with crossfade settings etc

Also i think waveburner is only available bundled with Logic and not as a stand alone app as it uses the Logic Dongle. There is most likley a freeware app that will do basic gain adjustments for burning

Yeah, OK - its actually in the CD Spin Doctor program, which is part of the Toast suite, rather than in Toast itself. The are some filters in there as well, but I do NOT recommend them.

There is also a setting in Nero for PC which will allow you to make them all the same volume.

iTunes has the ability to specify track volumes, as well as having a feature which will ensure everything is of the same average level...

... not sure how usable it is but it's free. I use waveburner personally, but it might be worth having a play.

You're right, of course, Smash, but my understanding (notoriously fallible at the best of times) is that iTunes stores the volume adjustment as a parameter with the file, rather than scaling the waveform itself. This means it may not help when Damien burns the file to a CD.

When I have time (like mid-2008) I might play with this and see if your suggestions works.

does anyone have waveburner as a stand alone app. or is it only with logic?

i have downloaded wavgain, and will try spin doctor etc and see what happens.
